There our car was in the middle of the busy road. Our emergency lights on. Even so, every passing car didn't give a crap and sped past us. The baby was in the back seat, while we called everyone we knew. No one was available, not even our mechanic (go figure). We decided we had to change the tire then and there to the best of our ability, which sadly was none.Unsure of where to even start we exited the car. My mom began to panic, while I tried to calm her down and keep the passing cars from hitting us. Suddenly a fire truck pulled in behind us. My initial thought, was some jerk called complaining we were blocking traffic. The fireman walked towards and said "We're going to block traffic for you guys.". To make a slightly longer story, slightly shorter: He guessed we didn't know a lick about cars. Two of his buddies came out, put up cones and changed our tire, even with our lousy tools.
Had it not been for there kindness I'm sure there we would still be. Baby crying in the back, car burning hot inside and passing jerks honking at us. Thank god for acts of random kindness. Events like this renew my faith in humanity.
