If you thought Adon was bad, you'd be Wong!

Wow, watching EVO2010 and the matches are extremely intense. Justin Wong, consider to be America's number 1 player has already been eliminated! He was knocked out by the most unexpected players. First Vangief, using Zangief sent J.Wong packing to the loser's bracket. From there Gamerbee, using Adon sent J.Wong home. Justin Wong has gone on record for calling Adon trash. I could only imagine how stupid he must feel. It's been really great though seeing the top players being shaken by a lot of new comers. It doesn't surprise me though. Super Street Fighter IV has attracted a lot of new players truly interested in high level play.

The top 8 are battling it out tomorrow, but these players are already winners in my book. They beat out 4,500 players to reach the top 8 and have already earned the extremely exclusive madcatz Golden Fightstick.

Tomorrow the finals will include:
Winners bracket:
Daigo Umehara (Ryu) vs. Mike Ross (E. Honda)
Vance "Vangief" Wu (Zangief) vs. EG.Ricky Ortiz (Rufus)

Losers bracket:
Henry Cen (E. Honda, Dhalsim) vs. GamerBee (Adon)
Infiltration (Akuma, Juri) vs. Shizza (Chun-Li)

This is my serious face.

So weeks have gone since my last post. Been playing quite a few games. I've finally beaten and pretty much 100%'ed Fallout 3. Great game, superior to Oblivion. I'm still in the progress of playing:
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum (progress: 40%)
  • Final Fantasy XIII (30%?)
  • Wet (5%)
  • Disgaea 3 (5%)
  • Band Hero(20%)
  • Loco Roco 2 (30%)
  • Silent Hill Origins(90%)
  • Final Fantasy Dissidia (???)

Last, but not least Super Street Fighter IV. Usually I like to focus on a single game, but SSFIV keeps stealing my attention. While playing my friend and players online I came to a realization: "I'm a scrub". If I'm going to spend so much time playing a game, why not seriously get better? That's the thing about fighting games you feel like total crap getting beaten by a player new to the game and maybe fighters in general. So I put my scrub days behind me and decided it was time to put on my serious face. Haha (title)!

I took a few minutes and studied the words and tips of pros, improving my game drastically. I still have a lot to put to the test online and improve at, but now I'm progressing!

Now back to watching Steve Brule's Check it out!

Blazblue I choose you!

Finally choose Blazblue. I love Guilty Gear and even though I miss it, Blazblue does a good job of filling the void. I like Street Fighter IV, but mostly for the franchise. I prefer the faster paced gameplay to be honest. Good thing I picked up the game now. With Gamestop's Gameday sale, they were going to go very quickly.

Gameday sucks for the most part, once Assassins Creed 2, Disgaea 3, FF: Dissidia and Blazblue disappear nothing but shovelware and lame price-cuts will be left. I hate when retailers use MSRP price drops as an excuse to label the game on sale.

In other news, I'm almost done with Fallout 3. I already beat it, but I'm still working my way through all 5 DLC packs. Already finished Anchorage, working on Mothership Zeta now. I was told I'd get about 10 hours from the game, boy was he wrong. So far I've invested 50+ hours. I'm going to estimate about another 5-8 hours of gameplay.

I'm falling... in to poverty!

Too many cheap games going around. It's really hard to narrow down my choices. They're all $20. Some I really want to play, others have great collectors value. Right now my choices are:
  • Resident Evil 5 Collectors Edition
  • Blazblue
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
  • Final Fantasy Dissidia
  • Sacred 2
  • Disgaea 3
Probably going to get Blazblue first. Wish I had money for them all. I'm a sad panda :(

Also gotta start saving for Super Street Fighter IV. I'm sure if I wait I won't have enough money. My cousin told me Wal-Mart was having a $10 gift card deal with a preorder, gotta check up on it. Speaking of my cousins, they're coming over for Spring Break (April 5).

I finally found my PSP after the move and got around to playing Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles for the first time. Its annoyingly hard. The game just saves between stages... What are we back in 1992? I've only got to stage 6, but so far Richter sucks. Maria seems superior by far. She attacks much faster, can roll, and run. . I should probably just unlock Symphony of the Night.

Playing Street Fighter IV again

After so long, I've picked up Street Fighter IV again. I don't own the game, so I had to borrow it from a friend. I've been practicing really hard with charge characters, which is a lot harder then it sounds. I think charge characters are tougher then quarter-circle type characters. You really have to have perfect timing and the ability to constantly have a 2 second timer in the back of your head in the heat of battle. Hopefully I can master Chun-Li to the point I feel comfortable main'ing her.

The whole reason I'm picking the game back up is because Super Street Fighter is right around the corner... and I can't wait! So many new features and only $39.99 on release day! It goes without saying this is a first-day pick-up for me. I hope Gamestop has a midnight release. I'm glad I waited for Super Street Fighter instead of picking up the original.

As a side note, I still need to beat Final Fantasy XIII and Fallout 3.

K-On!

I really wanted to watch a music anime. I've read my share of musical mangas, but never actually watched an anime. My initial choice was Beck, but I ran into K-On instead. Its softer side lured me in. I'm always up for a good comedy. By the end of show I wasn't disappointed.

Yui is a clumsy bum-girl, who decides her first year of High School is the perfect chance to join a club for the first time. Problem is Yui doesn't know how to play any instrument. Good thing for her, the Light Music Club needs 1 more member to stay open. Yui quickly learns to play the guitar and sing.

Even though the focus of the anime is on the Light Music music, music performances aren't often. The show itself often pokes fun at self for not having enough music, which makes it hard to criticize.

Pros:
  • Quick Pace
  • Cute characters
  • Good Music

Cons:
  • Not enough of the good music
  • Boys don't like music?
  • Still don't know why show is called K-On!?
K-On had its funny moments and good music. Not often I would say, but enough to keep the 14 episodes from getting stale.

Final Verdict:

K-ON!:
